Malta is a small island situated in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, with a population of just under 450,000 people. The Maltese Islands also possess a rich history, including a great succession of conquerors such as the Romans, Arabs, Knights of St. John and the British, all leaving a great impact on our architecture, culture and language. Malta is also famous for its Megalithic Temples, listed as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites as the oldest standing structures on Earth, offering an unmissable opportunity to see what life could have been like at the beginning of civilisation.
Malta is greatly known for its warm weather and for its beaches scattered around the island; from ‘Għadira’ in Malta to ‘Blue Lagoon’ in Comino and even ‘Ir-Ramla l-Ħamra’ in Gozo, mostly known for its unique red-coloured sand. No matter where you are, you will never be more than a twenty-minute drive away from the sea! Malta’s capital city, Valletta was built as a city-fortress, and has been named the European Capital of Culture for 2018. V18 has seen the involvement of around 1000 local and international artists, performers and designers, and has created a vibrant blend of old and new.
ELSA Malta was founded in 1986, and consists of one national group. ELSA Malta is an active member in the Network, focusing on a range of events, both at a national and international level. At a national level we host a number of events throughout the year, including seminars, legal negotiation competitions, moot court competitions, how to sessions and conferences. This year, we also hosted the 56th International Presidents’ Meeting.
We look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful island, and to share our ELSA Spirit with you!
