Joensuu is a small town of 76 000 residents in the eastern part of Finland with nature close by. Joensuu was established in 1848 and distance to the capital of Finland is about 460 kilometres. Joensuu is a part of North Karelia where eastern and western cultures collide. Finland is the land of a thousand lakes. So, if you want to visit in the true Finnish nature, come to Joensuu! In Joensuu, you can experience the official Finnish National Landscape at Koli National Park.

ELSA Joensuu was established in 2013 and we are eager to meet with people from all over the world and help them understand the Finnish culture and why Joensuu is the place to visit in Finland. Let’s grab a drink by Pielisjoki and begin our trip to the Karelian way of living!

Methods of getting from the airport(s)/train-station to the City Centre/Hotel

Taxi/bus from Joensuu airport. There’s two to five flights a day from Helsinki to Joensuu. IIt’s also easy to travel from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Joensuu by train or bus. Joensuu is a small town so everything you need is close by!
